“Error Code 7 – There was an error connecting to the platform.” can be triggered for multiple reasons. Check out the most common fixes for the problem. If you know of another fix for Error 7, please let us know in our Discord!
Unfortunately just restarting the game client usually does not fix Error Code 7 in VALORANT, so here are some solutions that helped people.
Go to the Riot Games website and check your Account region!
If your VALORANT account has the the wrong account region, especially China, you will run into Error Code 7 – There was an error connecting to the platform.
To change your account region in VALORANT and to potentially fix the error, you have to go to https://account.riotgames.com/account and see under Region/Country if it is really not your region.
If that is the case, you’ll have to go to https://support-valorant.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/360047379834-Changing-Your-Region-of-Residence-for-Your-Riot-Account, log-in and scroll down to change your region via support tool. If that does not work, you’ll have to open a ticket with the Riot Support to get it manually changed.
Check if you’re currently alone or many others have the same problem.
Check in places with other VALORANT players, like our Discord, if many others also experience Error Code 7. If that is the case, it might just be a server issue and not a problem on your side.
Check your Firewall
Do you have an additional firewall on your PC? It might block (some parts of) VALORANT. Make sure that VALORANT is completely whitelisted.
Re-Install Vanguard Anti-Cheat
Vanguard can be the reason for many problems so an uninstallation is always worth a try. Uninstall Vanguard, restart your computer, and install it again by launching VALORANT.
